Iran’s state-run drilling firm unveils performance details

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) carried out 38,511 meters of directional and horizontal drilling operations at Iran’s oil and gas fields during the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 20, 2017), said Sepehr Sepehri, managing director of the NIDC, said.

The NIDC drilled over 222,381 meters of oil and gas wells using its drilling equipment during the current fiscal year, Sepehri said, the Iranian oil ministry’s official website reported Feb. 10.

He further said that the company carried out drilling of 143 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells during the period.

The drilling operations were carried out in operational areas of the National Iranian South Oil Fields Company (NISOC), Iranian Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, Iranian Offshore Oil Company, Exploration Directorate of National Iranian Oil Company, Pars Oil and Gas Company and Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, the official added.

The NIDC has drilled over 4,369 wells after starting its operations in last 38 years, he said, adding that the wells included 2,325 development, 137 exploratory, 99 delineation wells and 1,808 repairing ones.

The company has drilled 385 offshore wells in last 38 years, the official noted.

The state-run drilling company has drilled over 9.149 million meters of oil and gas wells during its operational term, according to Sepehri.

The NIDC owns 73 drilling rigs including 70 light, heavy and ultra-heavy onshore and three offshore rigs, the official added.

The company carried out drilling of 193 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells (293 kilometers) during the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017).
