Iranian equity market talks hurdles to co-op with Borsa Istanbul (exclusive)

Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) has taken measures to promote serious cooperation with Borsa Istanbul.

The CEO of the TSE, Hassan Qalibaf-Asl, has told Trend that the sides are now following up on the issue of enlisting two companies in the TSE and Borsa Istanbul.

He described the corporate governance reporting and the international financial reporting system (IFRS) as the obligations to enlist Iranian companies at Borsa Istanbul .

The official added that Iran needs to adopt the two mentioned standards in order to pave the way for enlisting Iranian companies in the Turkish stock exchange.

The CEO further expressed interest in luring foreign investment to the country through the stock exchange.

Main index of the Tehran Stock Exchange, the largest equity market of the country, surged by 12 percent over the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year, compared to the same period of last year.

According to the latest statistics released by the Central Bank of Iran, the main index reached 88775 points in the eight-month period ending Dec. 21.
