Iran plans to double trade with France

An Iranian trade official has forecasted that Iran-France trade turnover would double by the end of the coming Iranian calendar year in March of 2019.

Gholamhossein Shafei, the head of Iran chamber of commerce, has said that the sides have exchanged several delegations and are ready to take serious measures aimed at boosting the value of the trade.

Shafei further said that the figure for bilateral trade between the two countries is expected to hit $4.8 billion by March 2019, Mehr news agency reported.

The current level of trade between Iran and France stands at $2.4 billion, he added.

Iran exported 104.8 million tons of non-oil goods valued at $37 billion over the first ten months of the current fiscal year (starting March 20).

According to the latest report by Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, the figure has dropped by two percent in volume terms but increased by 1.7 percent in value terms.

In the meantime, the country imported 30.4 million tons of goods worth of $42.8 billion.

France ranked as the eighth top exporter of goods to Iran in the ten-month period.

France in total exported worth of 118,000 tons of goods worth of $1.4 billion to Iran since the beginning of the current fiscal year in March 20, 2017.

The value and volume of France exports to Iran respectively increased by 76 percent and 17 percent.

France accounted for a 3.3 percent share of Iran’s total imports in the mentioned period.
