Iran has proposed to create an association for developing rural areas in collaboration with neighboring countries, a senior official told Trend.

"We are fully prepared to set up the association for the development of the rural areas of neighboring and adjacent countries," Seyyed Abolfazl Razavi, the vice president for rural development and deprived areas, told Trend.

He further added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently in talks with neighboring countries to create the association.

The official further touched upon the government’s plans to develop the rural areas and said the country will allocate more than 14 trillion tomans (about $313 million) in the low-interest loans to the rural plans.

According to the official, those villagers and nomads who live in the country’s frontier areas will be eligible to receive loans with an interest rate of four percent.

The remaining will receive loans at the interest rates of six and eight percent.
