Iran’s condensate exports register negative growth

The latest statistics unveil that Iran’s condensate exports registered a fall during the last fiscal year, ended March 20.

The Islamic Republic exported 17.22 million tons of gas condensate, worth $7.1 billion in the 12-month period, Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said.

Compared to the same period last year, Iran’s condensate exports indicates a 7.7 percent decrease in volume and 3.3 percent in value.

Iran’s industry ministry Mohammad Shariatmadari also announced on April 30 that the decreasing trend has not improved and the country’s gas condensate exports registered negative growth during the first calendar month of the current fiscal year (March 20-April 20).

During the first month of current fiscal year, the country exported $448 million worth of condensate.

It should be noted that Iran includes gas condensate and some raw hydrocarbon products, like propane, butane, etc. in its non-oil export basket.

The TPOI report also put the value of Iran’s petrochemical exports at $15.19 billion, 8 percent less year-on-year.

The petrochemical products ranked second among Iran’s non-oil exports in the period. During the 12-month period, the volume of Iran’s petrochemical exports decreased by 4.7 percent to 40.1 billion tons.

The industry sector products maintained their largest share among Iran’s non-oil exports during the last fiscal year.

The country exported $18.98 billion worth of industrial products during the period, 32 percent more year-on-year.

The Islamic Republic exported 43.968 million tons of industrial products, indicating a rise by 30 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

The TPOI has revised its former report about export of minerals putting the value at $1.401 billion, 1 percent more year-on-year.

The volume of mineral exports in the same span of time amounted to 26.4 million, 14 percent less year-on-year.

Meanwhile the TPOI said in a former report, covering the first 11 months of the last fiscal year (March 20, 2017-Feb. 20, 2018), that Iran exported 25 million tons of minerals, worth $1.449 billion.

The TPOI further put the agriculture sector exports at 4.51 million tons, $3.811 billion in the last fiscal year, 2 and 6 percent less in terms of volume and value respectively, year-on-year.

The Islamic Republic also exported $463 million worth of hand-made carpets and handicrafts in the 12-month period, 17 percent more year-on-year, according to TPOI.

The volume of Iran’s hand-made carpets and handicrafts amounted to 12,000 tons, which was 14 percent less compared to the preceding year.

In the 12-month period, Iran’s total non-oil exports (including gas condensate) stood at $46.93 billion, which indicates a 6.6 percent rise.
