Latest on Iran’s petrochemical sector performance

Iranian petrochemical plants produced 4.7 million tons of petrochemical products during the first month of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20, April 20).

The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) of Iran announced that the nominal output capacity of the country’s 57 petrochemical complexes stands at 62 million tons, forecasting that the annual production level will reach 60 million by March 2019. The forecast is not changed from the preceding month.

According to the NPC, in total 1.32 million tons of petrochemical products, worth 34.6 billion rials(each USD makes 42,000 rials) were supplied to domestic markets during the 1-month period.

The country’s petrochemical exports reached 1.99 million tons in the period, worth $1.167 billion.

Some 20 petrochemical complexes located in the port city of Mahshahr have produced more than 1.733 million ton of products in the period, meanwhile the 16 complexes located in Asalouyeh city produced over 2 million tons of petrochemical products during the 1-month period.

Khouzestan, Ehtemam-e Jam, Khorasan, Aria Sasol, Bistoun, SHimibaft, Nouri, Kermanshah Polymer and Shiraz petrochemical complexes registered highest performance in the period, according to the NPC.

Earlier Reza Norouzzadeh, managing director of the NPC, said that Iran’s petrochemical output is expected to reach 63 million tons during the current fiscal year. He added that the export share from the sale is expected to reach 27 million tons, worth $14 billion.

The country hopes to bring the nominal petrochemical production capacity to 120 million tons by 2020 and 160 million tons by 2025.
