Trend:

Export of day-old chickens to Caucasus and Central Asian countries is on Iran’s agenda, Ali Safar Makenali, deputy head of Iran Veterinary Organization, said.

Makenali said that lack of an operational plan to counter Newcastle disease is one of the obstacles to access the regional markets, YJC news agency reported.

He further said that plans are underway in this regard, adding that each year 4.6 billion dozes of Newcastle vaccines is used in Iran.

The proper transportation of poultry is one of the most important factors in controlling the disease, therefore, the large-scale implementation of proper transport system for chickens is essential in Iran, Makenali said.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency quoted Gholamali Fareghi, secretary of day-old chicken producers’ association, as saying May 17 that inappropriate and non-specialized transportation leads to death of 12 million of day-old chickens every year, imposing 7,600 billion rials (each USD makes 42,000 rials) in loses.

Iran produces one billion day-old chickens per year, according to the country’s Veterinary Organization.
