Agricultural products - Iran's 2nd most imported

Agricultural products stood at the second place among Iranian imports‎ the last fiscal year, ended March 20, 2018.

According to a report by Iran’s industry ministry, the Islamic Republic imported $5.578 million worth of agricultural products in the 12-month period, 8.9 percent more, year-on-year.

The volume of the imported agricultural products increased by 8.1 percent to 14.1 million tons in the same span of time.

Industrial products stood at top of Iran’s imports list in terms of value the last fiscal year.

The Islamic Republic imported $44.38 billion worth of industrial products in the 12-month period, registering a rise by 22.3 percent compared to the preceding year. Iran imported 18.6 million tons of industrial products in the last fiscal year, 8 percent more compared to the previous year.

The country also imported $1,386.2 million worth of petrochemicals (21.4 percent increase), $260.5 million worth of mineral products (60.7 percent more year on year) and $9 million worth of handicrafts and carpets (301 percent more) in the 12-month period.

The volume of Iran’s petrochemical and mineral imports stood at 806,800 tons (6.3) and 882,800 tons (15.5), respectively.

The handicrafts and carpets import volume also hiked by 300 percent to 3,200 tons in the last fiscal year.
