Iran’s total export of natural gas stands at 40 million cubic meters per day, the head of National Iranian Gas Company said.

Iran is currently swapping around 47 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, Deputy Oil Minister Hamidreza Araqi told ILNA news agency on August 25.

He added that the country’s total export of natural gas stands at 40 million cubic meters per day.

He further noted that “Gas exports are subject to no sanctions”.

Referring to Iran’s plans to export its gas to Europe, he said Turkey and the Black Sea would be the main export routes for Iran to export gas to Europe.

“For the time being, the oil ministry has focused on neighbors, including Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan due to lower expenses,” Araqi said.

He added that Iran is currently supplying Azerbaijan with 6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day via gas swap transactions.

On May 15, the deputy minister had said Iran swapped about one million cubic meters of gas per day with Azerbaijan.
