Indonesia, India ready to invest more in Iran’s weaving industry

Two companies from India and Indonesia have expressed readiness to invest more in weaving industry of Iran’s Yazd province in order to improve this sphere.

The situation in Yazd’s weaving industry was reviewed in Investment Services Center of Yazd Province with participation of heads of two Indonesian and Indian companies, as well as representatives of Yazd provice’s economy, investment and executive authorities, IRNA reported.

The meeting participants discussed the investment opportunities in weaving industry of Yazd province, the existing problems in this sphere, as well as upgrading the necessary equipment, increasing the volume of quality of production, attracting investors and other issues.

Indian and Indonesian companies have experience in upgrading equipment in weaving industry and in improving production in various countries.

Annually, Iran produces 400 tons of hand-woven carpets and over 80 percent of the production is exported to various countries.

Hand-woven carpets are of special value in Iran, and many people, including rural women, have a fundamental role in the carpet production.
