Corn harvesting completed in Iran’s Gilan-e Gharb county

Corn harvesting has been completed in Gilan-e Gharb county of Iran’s Kermanshah province, said Pasha Moradi, head of the agriculture department in Gilan-e Gharb county.

He noted that in total, 34,000 tons of corn has been harvested in this county since the beginning of the Iranian calendar year (which started on March 21, 2018), Trend reports citing IRNA.

Moradi went on to add that 3,050 hectares of lands were sown with corn in the county.

Around 20,000 tons of the harvest account for corn granules, while 14,000 tons is a corn silo, he said, adding that the volume of corn granules’ harvest in the county has increased by 17 percent as compared to the same period last year.

Moradi noted that 20,000 tons of corn harvested this year was bought by sales centers and the private sector.

More than 100,000 tons of agriculture and livestock products are produced in Gilan-e Gharb county annually. The county, with population of 72,000, has 31,000 hectares of agricultural lands and vineyards.
