Since the beginning of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018) till the 11th month 3,670 tons of bony fish were caught in the Caspian Sea, which is 65 percent more compared to the same period of last Iranian year, deputy chairman of the Iranian Fisheries Organization Shapur Kakulaki said.
Thus, 100 fishermen started to fish in the Caspian Sea on September 27, 2018 and continue to fish up till now, Trend reports referring to Iran's Agriculture Ministry's website.
Forty-four percent of 3,670 tons of fish account for white fish, which is 80 percent more compared to the same period of last Iranian year.
Thus, 53 percent of the caught fish account for grey mullet, which is by 56 percent more compared to the same period of last Iranian year.
He said that 1,380 tons of fish were caught in Gilan, 2,070 tons of fish in Mazandaran province and 215 tons of fish in Gulustan province.
Kakulaki expressed hope that fishermen will follow the rules in the natural increase of bony fish as in the previous years.
