Renewables account for 4.8 megawatts out of a total of 667 megawatts of electricity in Iran’s Semnan province, said Executive Director of the Semnan Province Electric Power Distribution Company Ali Akbar Sabbagh, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that it was allowed to build solar panel plants in the province for the production of 214 megawatts of electricity, noting that the production of 1.31 megawatts of electricity already started.

He added that 580 hectares of land are allocated for the construction of solar panel plants.

“A solar panel plant will be built by industrial park companies in this area,” he said.

He noted that 33,300 megawatts of electricity are expected to be obtained from alternative energy sources in the Semnan province by the end of the 6th development program.

He added that solar panel plants will be a great help to the province’s electricity supply.
