Iran discloses amount of damage in poultry sector

Iran suffered damage worth 5.8 trillion rials ($138 million according to the official exchange rate and $39.4 million according to the exchange rate in the black market) in the poultry sector last month, Executive Director of the Iran Union of Poultry Cooperatives Brumand Chaharayin said.

This damage was inflicted when chicken meat was sold at a price lower than that set by the Market Regulatory Committee, Chaharayin added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

He added that the damage worth about five trillion rials was inflicted by chicken meat producers last month.

The damage worth 800 billion rials was inflicted by baby chick meat producers last month, Chaharayin said.

Presently, the price of 1 kilogram of oil cake is 24,500 rials, the price of corn is 13,500 rials, the price of chicken meat - 24,500 rials, he said.

Accordingly, the price of 1 kilogram of live chickens must reach 92,000-92,500 rials while 1 kilogram of chicken meat – 130,000-145,000 rials, Chaharayin added.

However, 1 kilogram of live chickens in poultry farms must reach 78,000-80,000 rials, he said.

The official exchange rate is $1 - 42,000 rials, while $1 is worth about 146,000-148,000 rials in the black market.
