Considering the suitable weather conditions, Iran is expecting to harvest 1.2 million tons of dates in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2019- March 20, 2020), the Chairman of the country's National Dates Association Mohsen Rashid Farroukhi said, Trend reports via Young Journalists Club (YJC).
Compared to the last crop year, the dates harvest will increase by some 30-35%, Farroukhi said.
Although, the price of a kilogram of dates is 200,000 rials (official rate - roughly $4.76; black market rate - roughly $1.09) in orchards, the product is offered to consumers for 360,000-370,000 rials (official rate - roughly $8.57-$8.80; black market rate - roughly $2.76-$2.84) in markets, he added.
