Iran's Special Economic Zone at Imam Khomeini Port receives 4.5 million tons of imports

In the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), Iran imported 4.5 million tons of essential goods to the Special Economic Zone at Imam Khomeini Port of its Khuzestan province, Director General of Khuzestan Ports and Maritime Organization Adil Deris said, Trend reports via the organization's web site.

The imports of essential goods increased by 67 percent compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year, Deris said.

Last year, 12.2 million tons of essential goods were received at the economic zone of the port, he added.

The director further added that proposals have been sent to relevant organization to allocate 2,500 trucks and 200 rail cars for daily use in order to distribute the imports throughout the country.
