The West Karoon field shared by Iran and Iraq produces more than 300,000 barrels of oil, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said at a meeting with members of the Followers of Wilayat fraction in the Iranian Parliament, Trend reports referring to the website of the Iranian Oil Ministry.

He said that this figure was previously 50,000 barrels.

Zanganeh added that despite this, Iran’s development in this field has exceeded that of Iraq.

The Iranian minister said that Iran’s production on the South Pars gas field, which is shared with Qatar, has doubled. “Iran is ahead of Qatar in terms of daily production,” he noted.

Zanganeh said that there are no limits for oil extraction in the Caspian Sea.

The South Pars/North Dome field is the world’s biggest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. It is reported that the field has 51 million cubic meters of gas reserves and that it is possible to extract 36 trillion cubic meters of gas.

Iran extracted 610 million cubic meters of gas daily from this gas field in 2018.
