The railway lines of Iran’s western Ardabil province and the Azerbaijani railway line will be connected, Akbar Behnamju, governor of Ardabil province, said.

A railway terminal will be built in Parsabad county of Ardabil province through the participation of the private sector and the neighboring country, Behnamju added, Trend reports referring to the governor’s website.

The governor noted that the private sector is ready to connect Parsabad railway terminal and railway line to the Azerbaijani railway.

Some 1.5 trillion rials (about $35.7 million) are required for the railway construction, Behnamju said. The governor added that more than 700 billion rials (about $16.6 million) are currently available.

Behnamju said that this railway will facilitate the export of agricultural products from northern Ardabil province to the Central Asian countries.
