Some 150 billion rials (about $3.57 million) have been allocated for the reconstruction of fishing ports in Iran’s south-western Khuzestan province since March 21, 2019, Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Chairman of the Iran Fisheries Organization Nabiulla Khun Mirzai said.

“These funds were allocated to fishing ports, which are being built in Hendijan, Shadgan and Abadan cities,” Mirzai added, Trend reports referring to the Organization’s website.

The deputy minister expressed hope that the ongoing work in these ports will be accelerated through the allocated funds.

Mirzai added that the floods caused great damage to fisheries last year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019) and at the beginning of this year.

“Nevertheless, 1.26 million tons of fish products were produced in Iran last year," he said.
