Iran's Wagon Pars Company, located in Markazi province, and Raja Rail Transportation Company have signed a contract for the repair of 55 passenger rail cars, Executive Director of Wagon Pars Mohammad Reza Moukhtari said, Trend reports via IRNA.
According to the contract, at the first stage, 25 rail cars will be overhauled with the funds of 410 billion rials (roughly $9.76 million), the director said.
The overhaul of one passenger rail car will cost about 15 billion (roughly $595,000), Moukhtari said.
Moreover, Wagon Pars will manufacture eight new passenger rail cars for Raja Rail Transportation Company, the director added.
Mohammad Reza Moukhtari noted that talks on the manufacture of 20 new passenger rail cars for 1.5 trillion rials (roughly $35.7 million) are underway.
To date, Iran's Wagon Pars Company has manufactured 12,000 cargo rail cars, 400 passenger rail cars and 300 subway cars.
