Iran continues to invest in mining sector of Khorasan Razavi province

Iran's Khorasan Razavi is the leading province in mineral industries investment and $47 million has been invested in its mines in the last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020), said the deputy in Khorasan Razavi provincial governorate.

"Mines and mineral industries in Khorasan Razavi province had significant growth in past seven years and the production in gold, copper, and steel sectors had an optimal increase," said Morteza Ashrafi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Total of $4.7 billion has been invested in Khorasan Razavi Province in past seven years that 57 percent of the following sum was invested in mineral industries sector. The value of mine products had 30 percent increase while a number of workforce employment in mines had 15 percent growth," he added.

During this period from 2013 to 2020, the production capacity of copper concentrate increased from 12,000 tons to 20,400 tons while gold production increased from 3,800 kilograms to 4,100 kilograms

A total of 932 mines have obtained operation permits in Khorasan Razavi province with 2.8 billion tons reserves and annual extraction of 39 million tons that have attracted $377 million and creating jobs for 11,297 individuals. There are currently more than 5,000 industrial units active in the province that created 195,000 jobs.

Ashrafi went on to say that about 90 percent of investment in the industrial sector was from the private sector and Khorasan Razavi Province shares 6 percent of industrial investment in the country.Production capacity and investment in steel projects increased 55 percent while industrial projects in the province had 38 percent growth.
