The Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade signed a contract for the construction of a production unit aiming to convert the nepheline syenite to alumina powder.
The signing ceremony of the contract for the construction of a 70,000-ton alumina powder production unit held today on Wednesday, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The contract has been signed between IMIDRO and Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters. The Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Deputy Ministers, the Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarter, Chairman of the Industries and Mines Commission of the Parliament several MPs have attended the ceremony.
According to Imidro's contract with Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarter, in the first phase of the project, 70,000 tons of alumina powder will be produced annually from the nepheline syenite in a production unit located at Sarab city.
The project will have a significant impact on the outflow of foreign currency.
The current production of alumina in the country is about 250,000 tons per year.
At present, Iran needs 1.5 million tons of alumina powder annually, most of which are imported.
The value of the first phase of the project is 137 million euros and this project will be implemented in 4 years.
