Trend:

Iran has kept the acceptable level of oil output and export despite the US sanctions, said Iran Oil Minister.

"Iran was under unilateral US sanction pressures especially in past three years and we have kept the acceptable volume of oil production and export," said Bijan Zangeneh, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Understanding and acknowledging the necessity to cooperate in the OPEC alongside economic and even political competition between OPEC member countries is a golden principle. OPEC has complied with this principle during the past 60 years and had played an important role in improving political relations between its member countries," he said during the OPEC meeting.

"Iran's policy as a founding member of OPEC has always been to evolve cooperation and collaboration within the OPEC and focused on cooperation with other oil producing countries and consumers. We have 60 years of experience and now the OPEC new cooperation plan with other oil producers in the OPEC – Plus framework would start a new chapter in OPEC life," he added.

Zangeneh has indicated in the meeting that he has decided to retire from public service.
