TEHRAN, Iran, July 5

Lufthansa was the first European airline that resumed its flight across Iran's airspace, said a board member of Iran Airports Company (IAC).
"A Lufthansa flight has crossed Iran air space en route to India on Saturday night to mark the resumption of European airliners using Iran air space. Other European airlines would also resume crossing through Iran's sky," said Mohammad Amirani, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
"There have been negotiations between the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran and these airlines especially Lufthansa and ensured these foreign airlines that Iran's sky is safe and secure and there would be no problem for crossing flights," he noted.
"After finalizing negotiations with foreign airlines we hope to witness an increase of flights crossing through Iran's sky. The Iranian side has also offered special discounts to the European airliners if the number of their flights crossing Iran air space would increase. Iran's air space is the safest and the most economical in the region," Amirani added.
