A total of 86 large thermal power plants with an investment of more than 7 billion euros($8.2 billion) have been put into operation in the last eight years, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The Iranian administration began the construction of 43 large thermal power plants with a capacity of 16,309 MW that will enter the electricity network in the next administration.

The government took the necessary measures to finance the 17,925 MW new power plant project, which were stopped due to sanctions and the lack of foreign funding.
