TEHRAN, Iran, July 28

Trend:

The head of Iran's Jask Oil Terminal Reza Dehkordi said that the terminal has reduced the costs of oil export by at least $300,00 per tanker, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The distance between the terminal and Kharg Island is approximately 510 nautical miles,” Dehkordi said. The round trip between Jask oil terminal and Kharg Island takes 5 days for a tanker, so using the Jask oil terminal for export will save a total of at least $300,000 per tanker, which will create a competitive advantage.”

He pointed out that Iran in the Oman Sea and Jask export terminal could well create geopolitical capacity for oil exports and bring Iranian oil closer to international markets.

"To achieve this goal, we must take big steps to reduce customer costs,” he said.

Dehkordi went on to say that building Jask terminal made huge savings in ship fuel consumption and ship rental.

Dehkordi added that due to the competitive advantages of new terminal on reducing transportation and insurance costs, as well as time, countries that were not considered as Iranian oil customers, may as well change their minds.

He went on to note that now, over 17 million barrels of oil per day, which is 20 percent of the world's total traded oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz.

He pointed out that military strategy experts in the Middle East believe that due to the issues that have arisen in the Strait of Hormuz in recent years, oil exports from the Oman Sea are will be valuable for any country in the region.
