Iran approves establishment of parliamentary SME committee

The industrial commission in Iranian parliament has approved the establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) committee to have a bigger role in economic development, said the head of SME committee in parliament industrial commission, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Hojjatollah Firouzi has indicated that the parliament industrial commission has approved the formation of a committee to deal with issues in small and medium-sized industries.

He noted that small and medium-sized enterprises have a big role in employment and economic development. The newly formed committee has started its work and there is ongoing interaction with associations, chambers of commerce, cooperatives, and companies.

The committee seeks to implement necessary reviews to understand the legal problems concerning SMEs and provide support.

He indicated that SMEs have more capacity for development.

The Central Bank of Iran has called on banks and credit institutions to prioritize lending to SMEs.
