TEHRAN, Iran, June 11. The Iranian parliament has called on the Ministry of Industries, Mine, and Trade to explain the sudden decision to suspend auto sales at Iran Mercantile Exchange, said member of parliament's economic commission Mehdi Toghyani, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.
He pointed out that the ministry has yet to provide a reliable response for its decision and the parliament is pursuing the issue.
He went on to say that offering cars at the exchange would create a transparent market and prevent the soaring prices.
The suspension came just before the pre-scheduled offer of 430 cars on Wednesday, namely the Chinese-made 'Dignity' and 'Fidelity', assembled by local carmakers.
The ministry said that selling cars at the Iran Mercantile Exchange is incompatible with the current rules to regulate the local auto market.
