BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 25. Iranian carmaker Irankhodro's passenger car output declined by four percent last year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Iran's Ministry of Industry and Trade said, Trend reports.
Last year, Iranian vehicle maker Irankhodro produced 520,000
passenger automobiles, which were sold throughout the country.
In the previous year, Irankhodro Automobile Manufacturing Company
produced 544,128 passenger vehicles, put 606,128 passenger cars on
the market, and constructed 62,000 passenger automobiles
nationwide.
Meanwhile, Iran produced 1.13 million passenger cars during the
previous Iranian year (March 21, 2023 to March 19, 2024). This is 6
percent greater than the prior year (March 21, 2022–March
2023).
Iran has focused in recent years on the domestic production of passenger cars rather than importing them. Therefore, it has imposed certain restrictions on the importation of passenger cars into the country. However, due to insufficient domestic production, low quality, and safety levels, the restrictions on importing passenger cars into the country have been relaxed to some extent.
