Iran unveils GDP figures for industrial and mining sectors

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The value of GDP in Iran's industrial and mining sectors amounted to 28.3 quadrillion rials (about $675 billion) in the first nine months of the last Iranian year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, the value of GDP in the industrial and mining sectors increased by 37.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The value of GDP in the industrial and mining sectors amounted to 20.7 quadrillion rials (about $492 billion) in the first nine months of the previous year.

Statistics indicate that the value of GDP in the industrial sector in the first nine months amounted to 19.8 quadrillion rials (about $472 billion). This is an increase of 35.6 percent compared to the same period last year. During the same period of the previous year, the value of GDP in the industrial sector amounted to 14.6 quadrillion rials (about $348 billion).

The information shows that the value of the mining sector's GDP for the first nine months amounted to 8.52 quadrillion rials (about $203 billion). This figure increased by 41 percent compared to the same period last year. The value of GDP in the mining sector amounted to 6.04 quadrillion rials (about $144 billion) in the same period last year.

To note, Iran's GDP in the last nine months, if crude oil is calculated, amounted to 104 quadrillion rials (about $2.4 trillion) at current prices. The value of Iran's GDP has increased by 37.6 percent over the past nine months, if crude oil is counted, compared to the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Iran announced GDP statistics in both current prices and 8-year-old prices (from March 21, 2015, through March 20, 2016), which are considered an index for the country. The information includes current prices.
