Customs reports hike in exports of fish and fishery products in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8. Iran's exports of fish and fishery products increased by 3 percent in value terms and 12 percent in weight terms in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (March 21, 2022-March 20, 2023), the data of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.

According to the information, Iran's exports of fish and fishery products amounted to 149,000 tons worth $310 million last Iranian year.

The information noted that last year, shrimp worth $98.4 million were exported. This amounted to 32 percent of the value of fish and fishery exports. Shrimp from Iran was mainly exported to Russia, the UAE, and China.

The data shows that Iran imported 24,000 tons of fish and fishery products worth $72 million last year. The imports of fish and fishery products increased by 113 percent in value and 121 percent in weight compared to the previous year. The most imported yellowfin tuna is valued at $30.6 million. It accounted for 42 percent of Iran's imports of fish and fishery products.

Meanwhile, according to the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration, the country's exports of non-oil products in the last Iranian year amounted to more than 136 million tons worth $49.3 billion. Compared to the previous year, Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 8.87 percent in value terms and increased by 9.82 percent in weight terms.

To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's product imports in the last Iranian year amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. The import of products increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.
