BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. The import of non-oil products through Jolfa Customs of East Azerbaijan Province, located in northwestern Iran, increased by 27 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), director general of Iran's Jolfa Customs Mohammad Khalili said, Trend reports.
According to him, Iran imported 285,000 tons of non-oil products worth $867 million via Julfa Customs last year.
Khalili stated that last year mainly wood and wood materials, raw materials for cigarettes, and so on were imported through Julfa Customs. These products were mainly imported from Türkiye, Germany, Japan, and China.
The official noted that the value of products transiting through Iran's Julfa Customs amounted to $893 million last year. This is 20 percent more than last year.
Khalili added that the revenue of Iran's Jolfa Customs last year amounted to 22.7 trillion rials (about $541 million). This is 47 percent more than the year before.
To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's imports of products last year amounted to 39 million tons worth about $66.3 billion. Product imports increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.
