BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The volumes of flare gas produced and burned together with crude oil at the Iranian oil and gas production company Maroun will decrease to a minimum in the near future, the executive director of Iran's National Company Sothern Oil Zones, Alireza Daneshi, said, Trend reports.
According to him, for example, with an increase in production at the Shadgan oil field on the territory of the Maroun oil and gas company to 130,000 barrels per day, the volume of flared gas will increase to 25 million cubic meters per day. Currently, an 8-inch pipeline with a length of 25 km is being laid from the field to the concentrator. Once the 8-inch pipeline is completed, this volume of gas will be collected and transported to a processing plant.
Daneshi added that serious steps are being taken to collect flare gas produced and burned along with crude oil at the Maroun oil and gas company.
Meanwhile, the Maroun oil and gas production company, operating as part of the National Company of Southern Oil Zones of Iran, operates 404 oil wells. The production of this company is 562,000 barrels per day. About 360,000 barrels of it are transported to the Isfahan Oil Refining Company, and the rest (202,000 barrels) to the island of Khark.
However, in addition to oil, this company also produces 570 million cubic feet (about 16.1 million cubic meters) of gas, 25,000 barrels of liquefied natural gas, and 7,000 barrels of gas condensate daily.
To note, the Shadgan oil field is located in the south-west of Iran, in the province of Khuzestan. The field was discovered in 1968, and production began in 1989. This field is 23 km long and 6 km wide and has two reservoirs. It is reported that 110,000 barrels of crude oil are produced daily at the field.
