Iran launches advanced centrifuges at Natanz plant

Iran’s envoy to the IAEA organization, Kazem Gharibabadi said that the two cascades of 348 IR2m centrifuges have been installed at Iran's Natanz nuclear plant and are now operating with UF6, Trend reports via Gharibabadi's Twitter account.

He added that Iran has also started installing two cascades of IR6 centrifuges at the Fordow plant.

“Installation of 2 cascades of IR6 centrifuges has also been started in Fordow,” GharibAbadi said.

Thanking the “diligent nuclear scientists” of Iran, he saif that two cascades of 348 IR2m centrifuges with almost 4 times the capacity of IR1 are now running with UF6, successfully at the Natanz plant.

On January 13, the Iranian envoy announced the start of "activities related to the design of an improved type of fuel for the Tehran Research Reactor."

According to him, "natural uranium will be used to produce uranium metal on the first stage."
