BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. It has been repeatedly stated that Iran's nuclear program is completely peaceful and nuclear weapons have no place in Iran's military and defense doctrine, Iranian Foreign Ministry responded to the joint statement of three European countries (Germany, England, and France) on Iran's nuclear program, Trend reports.

According to Iran's foreign ministry, the three European nations' united statement on Iran's nuclear program includes unfounded claims, which Iran strongly rejects.

The MFA notes that countries pursuing an unconstructive strategy are responsible for the current status of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). This is because they accuse Iran of making the JCPOA meaningless.

"Iran has always cooperated constructively and technically with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) within its rights and obligations and will continue its peaceful nuclear program within the framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)," the statement said.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry statement, Iran's peaceful nuclear activities are not aimed at reacting. On the contrary, it will continue its nuclear program at the national level and within the framework of international laws and norms.

Furthermore, the Iranian Foreign Ministry added that Iran is always ready to go the extra mile for fruitful mutual understanding, and engage in meaningful dialogue, where issues can be tackled head-on, steering clear of pointless political maneuvers.

However, it should be noted that recently three European countries (Germany, the UK, and France) issued a joint statement stating that they are ready to use all available diplomatic measures to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons because the escalation of Iran's nuclear activities affects international security.

In late 2020, the Iranian parliament adopted a strategic plan to counter the sanctions, citing the non-fulfillment of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed between Iran and six countries and the imposition of sanctions on Iran.

Based on the decision of the Iranian parliament, as of February 23, Iran stopped the implementation of additional measures and an additional protocol included in the nuclear deal. As a consequence, the monitoring mechanism of the IAEA was reduced by 20–30 percent.
