Presidential Advisor for Press Affairs Ali Akbar Javanfekr passed registration for the presidential elections, Iribnews website reported on Saturday.
According to the report, Ali Akbar Javanfekr is the former director of IRNA state news agency. Previously he was sentenced to a 1-year prison term for publication of materials that are contrary to Islamic norms and human values, as well as for publishing material critical of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He was later acquitted.
The official registration of candidates for the presidential elections started on May 7. The registration deadline is May 11.
366 people including 12 women registered for the elections.
The 11th presidential elections in Iran are scheduled to be held on June 14 this year.
The President in Iran is elected for a four-year term.
