Iran blocks two reformist websites

Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 27

Iran has blocked access to reformist Jamaran and Bahar News websites.

The websites were blocked due to covering some reports about ex-president Mohammad Khatami in recent days, Iran's ISNA news agency reported Feb. 27.

Jamaran is the official website of the "Publication and Organizing Institute of Imam Khomeini Works," which is headed by Hassan Khomeini, nephew of the Islamic Republic founder, Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini.

On Feb. 16, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the spokesman for Iran's judiciary said that Iranian media remain banned from mentioning former reformist President Mohammad Khatami and publishing his comments, statements, and pictures.

Mohseni Ejei warned that the media outlets that violate the ban would be dealt with.

The official said that there was a regulation that prohibits media from publishing photos and news about the former president and it remained in place.

According to ISNA, lawsuits were filled against the aforementioned websites.
