Commander of Iran's General Staff of Armed Forces Brigadier General Hassan Firouzabadi has said that Iran supports its neighbors as a big brother.

Today Iran has a prominent place in terms of military power as well as political and geopolitical penetration and the world counts on the country, Firouzabadi stated speaking during a conference in Tehran.

"We support our neighbor countries and there is nothing to threaten them," he asserted, IRNA reported on March 8.

"When there were threats against Iraq we gave them all-out support to rid them of the danger," the high-ranking military official stated.

He also dismissed a recent statement by Saudi Foreign Minister Saud bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud that by keeping military presence in Iraq's Tikrit, Iran is seeking to penetrate the region.

"Iran is looking for nothing in Iraq. We consider Iraq's dignity as our dignity. Iraq is Iran's margin of safety," he stated.

"If we notice some people are doing sedition in Iraq, we would naturally help wrap the case up."

Iranian officials have repeatedly rejected reports about the presence of Iranian military forces in Iraq.
