Unknown persons set ablaze two Iranian cargo trailers in Turkey's southeastern region.

"Two Iranian trucks were attacked and set ablaze by unknown persons yesterday night in the Chaldoran District of Turkey," Mahammadjavad Atrchiyan, the director general of the office for transit and border terminals affiliated with Iran's Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization told Fars News Agency August 17.

He also said that no one was hurt in the attack in the Iranian border, however the trailers were completely destroyed, the report says.

According to the report, in an official letter Iran offered the Turkish side to provide armed escort for cargo trailers in the country's unstable regions to prevent new attacks.

In recent weeks several attacks were carried out against Iranian trucks in Turkey, which left one dead and several injured.

Iran has warned its citizens to avoid travel to Turkey through land since Aug.8, but Alireza Dashtani, the Director general of Supervision on transit department of Iran Custom Administration told Fars News Agency on Aug.14 that all activities in Bazargan checkpoint has been resumed.
