Three helicopters and one hovercraft have been added to Iran’s Havadarya (air-marine) Fleet, according to Iran Army Marine Force First Base Commander Ruh al-Amini.
The helicopters have been equipped with torpedo launchers and sonar surveillance systems, he said, Mehr news agency reported December 9.
The commander said that the helicopters and hovercrafts will be the first of their kinds to be used by Iran to patrol the Persian Gulf.
Iran has been strengthening its military presence in the Persian Gulf in recent years.
