Tehran, Iran, February 10

Iran’s Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan has said the country will spare to efforts to boost its defense power.
Speaking during the Islamic revolution anniversary rally in Tehran, the minister said although the country will never go for the production of mass destruction weapons, it will improve its cyber and missile defense capabilities as much as it can, Mehr news agency reported February 10.
He praised Iran’s security in the disturbed Middle East as owing to the military clout of the country.
After experiencing eight years of destructive war with Iraq in the 1980s, Iran has given special importance to boosting its military power.
However, Tehran’s military program has been criticized by the West, the US in particular. Recently the US placed economic sanctions on 25 Iranian entities which it claimed were militarily involved, just a few days after Iran conducted new missile tests.
