Baku, Azerbaijan, March 4
By Fatih Karimov – Trend:
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that the US president Donald Trump has no other choice than extending the nuclear deal signed between Iran and the six world powers in 2015, Mehr news agency reported March 4.
The US president is currently evaluating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA aka nuclear deal), Araqchi said, adding that he will make decision no later than May.
However, there are signs that Trump will extend the nuclear deal, Araqchi said.
He further said that if Trump rips up the JCPOA, he will have to suffer the costs.
At the moment, there is an international consensus against Trump and he has no other choice than extending the JCPOA, the top Iranian diplomat said.
Araqchi further said that Iran is negotiating $80 billion worth oil contracts, adding that signing the deals is delayed due to internal disputes over the new model of oil contracts, namely the IPC (Iran Petroleum Contract).
