Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani called for imposing pressure on the US for violating the nuclear deal reached between Tehran and the six world powers in 2015.

Rouhani made the remarks at a session of the cabinet of ministers on May 16, the official website of the president announced.

Today the US has violated the international regulations and should be put under pressure for that, Rouhani said referring to Washington withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA aka nuclear deal).

The US, not Iran violated the international laws, its commitments under the deal and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231, Rouhani said.

The resolution, passed 20 July 2015, endorses the JCPOA, set out an inspection process and schedule while also preparing for the removal of United Nations sanctions against Iran.

On May 8, the US President Donald Trump announced that Washington walks away from the nuclear accord. Trump also announced that the US re-imposes the "highest level of economic sanctions" on the Islamic Republic.

Iran said it will not continue the implementation of the JCPOA without receiving enough ‎guarantees from three European countries, including the UK, France, and Germany.

Rouhani said that there are still grounds and opportunities regarding the JCOPA which can be studied and negotiated.

He added that the Islamic Republic would not give up under pressure, sanctions or threats.
