The second Speakers’ conference between Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, China, Russia, and Afghanistan, aimed at combating terrorism and strengthening regional communications kicked off with the attendance of Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani on Saturday morning in Tehran, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
Majlis (Iran parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani and President Rouhani are to deliver speeches in the opening ceremony, followed by the speeches of other participants’ parliament speakers.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi have also attended the conference as well.
Confronting terrorism, reviewing experiences, studying current strategies and establishing new regional ones, developing communication and strengthening regional cooperation, achieving peace and sustainable development in the region are among the topics to be discussed during the two-day conference.
The Pakistani parliament speaker will resign the presidency of the conference to his Iranian counterpart.
The first edition of the conference was held in Pakistan’s capital city of Islamabad where the six countries decided to boost regional cooperation to combat terrorism.
