Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message on Friday congratulated appointment of Brigadier General Hossein Salami as top commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Trend reports citing IRNA.
The message reads, “I congratulate Your Excellency on the appointment of IRGC top commander on the auspicious birth anniversary of the Imam Zaman (AS) and I wish you success and prosperity in the high-profile position.”
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday appointed Hossein Salami, a senior IRGC commander, as the new chief commander of the military force, promoting him to the rank of major general. Salami replaced Major General Mohammad Ali Ja'fari.
