Iran's Intelligence Ministry has announced that the body of Jamshid Danaeifar, an Iranian border guard, kidnapped February 2013, was discovered.

The body was transferred into the country on March 21 after discovered and identified by the Islamic Republic Intelligence Ministry, the public relations department of the ministry said in a statement on March 22.

Some people involved in killing of the border guard also have been arrested, the statement said.

The intelligence forces discovered the body following over one year of intensive investigations and operations, according to the ministry.

No further details were published about the exact date and place of discovering the body, as well as identity of the arrested people.

Danaeifar and his four comrades (Sajjad Zahani, Mohammad Nezami, Ramin Hazrati and Jamshid Teimouri) were kidnapped on Feb. 6, 2014 by members of the Jaish-ul-Adl group in the Jakigour region of Iran's south eastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

On April 6, 2014 four Iranian soldiers were released by the Jaish-ul-Adl who had earlier claimed that they executed Danaeifar. Previously, Iranian officials repeatedly announced that Danaeifar's fate was unclear as there was no accurate information about his situation.

An unofficial Iranian news website claimed that Danaeifar had entered the United States' territory on May 29, 2014 via a military plane and has sought political asylum in the US.
