An earthquake measuring 4.4 degrees on the Richter scale jolted Mourmouri town in western Ilam province on Saturday night, Irna reported.

According to a report by the Seismography Center of Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 22:31 hours local time (19:01 GMT).

The quake's epicenter was at latitude of 32.83 degrees and longitude of 47.78 degrees.

There has been no report on the possible casualties or the damages caused by the quake.

An earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, hit Ilam province on August 18. The earthquake damaged roads and water, electricity and telecommunication facilities.

Since then, Iran's western provinces of Kermanshah and Ilam have witnessed hundreds of small quakes.
