The number of people infected with an unknown virus has reached 700 in the Qorveh County of Iran’s northwestern Kordestan Province, said Houshang Pirfallah, head of the Qorveh County department of Medical Council of the Kordestan Province, Trend reports referring to ILNA.
According to Pirfallah, cases of poisoning have increased since March 10.
Pirfallah added that, although a virus is believed to be the cause of the poisoning, its exact cause still remains unknown.
"The poisoned suffer from diarrhea and vomiting, and recover in 12 hours," he said.
Pirfallah denied claims of the poisoning being caused by drinking water or frozen meat.
A norovirus is assumed to be the cause of the poisoning.
