Agriculture (january-november 2009)

According to official statistics, as of December 1, 2009, the total amount of the agricultural production made up AZN 3270.4mln compared to AZN 3145.8mln in January-November 2008, an increase of 3.9%.

Factual amount of forestry products totaled 1,496,500 manat compared to 1,151,100 manat in January-November last year, the fishing industry 124,000 compared to 117,500 manat in January-November 2008.

During the reported period, harvesting most crops has almost completed in the agriculture of Azerbaijan. According to State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, as of 1 December 2009, the production of crops, including corn has increased in Azerbaijan by 490,400 tons as compared to last year and amounted to 2,988,300 tons. Of these, 2,137,500 tons, or 71.5 accounted for grain, 151,200 tons, or 5.1 percent - corn. Average grain yield per hectare amounted to 26.6 quintals compared with the previous year.

During January-November 2009, livestock production increased in Azerbaijan. According to State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, meat production in January-November 2009 made up 278,800 tons compared to 277,500 tons during the same period of 2008, with growth of 0.5 percent. Milk production totaled 1,307,700 tons as compared with 1,268,800 tons in January-November 2008, with growth of 3.1 percent, eggs - 1080.5 million units as compared to 988.9 million units, with increase of 9.3 percent, and wool - 14,900 tons compared 14,300 tons with an increase of 4.6 percent.

In Azerbaijan, the November index of production prices for agricultural commodities fell by one percent as compared to the previous month, and increased by 0.6 percent in January-November compared to the same period of last year.
