Consumer market

In January-April 2010, a rise of the retail goods turnover got restored amid continuing rise of the community services and was 8.7%. The amount of retail goods turnover comprised AZN 5423.6mln. In particular, 72.1% of growth accounted for retail trade, 27.9% - paid services.

In January-April 2010 trading networks of Azerbaijan sold population consumer goods at 4098.7 million manat, which is 8.2% more than 2009. Legal entities provided 14.1% of turnover, fairs and markets - 41.6%, individual entrepreneurs - 43.6%.

In January-April 2010, every citizen of the country acquired consumer goods and paid services at 152.3 manat that is 10.1 manat higher than 2009. 

In January-April 2010 commercial services to population made up 1324.9 million manat, or up 10.5 percent. Individual entrepreneurs provided 20.7% of services, legal entities - 28.0%, with growth of 13.4% and 10.1% respectively.

Prices

In January-April, the prices for consumer goods and tariffs for services remained unchanged compared with the previous month, and compared to January-April 2009 grew by 4.4 percent (data from State Statistics Committee).

The prices for food products in April rose 0.1 percent compared to March, non-food products decreased by 0.3 percent, and tariffs for service remained unchanged. 

Compared with January-April 2009, food prices grew by 3.5 percent, non-food products - 1.6 percent, and tariffs for the service sector - 8.3 percent.

In April 2010, the base index of the consumer prices incurring seasonal changes (fruits and vegetable) and being regulated by the Government made up 99.8% as compared to the previous month, and 101.9% to 2009.    

As compared to the previous month, in April 2010 the index of industrial goods price decreased 0.5%, but rose 69.8% compared to the same period of the last year.

The price in oil and gas production increased 0.5 percent in April compared to previous month, but rose almost 2 times in January-April compared to the same period of 2009.

The prices in refining chemical products decreased 0.9% in the month and growth totaled 7.0% at annualized pace.

In April, the prices in metallurgy increased 6.3 percent compared to the previous month, but declined 0.6% at annualized pace. The prices for electricity, gas and water remained unchanged compared to previous month, and during the year.
